Manix 2lw inconsistent action

I've noticed that sometimes when I use my Manix 2 it is smooth with drop shut action the way I adjusted it to be, but other times it feels tight and won't just fall open or shut when pulling the cage all the way back. There is no blade play in either instance, and the screws are all adjusted to the best of my ability with blue loctite securing them. It's not a problem to me since the knife is fully operational but I've chalked it up to maybe the ball bearing wasn't made perfectly round since it has done this from day one. I'm not sure I want to go install an aftermarket bearing to it to find out, but do you guys have any ideas of what is going on?

If you are retracting the lock all the way, the ball is not the problem. It won't even be touching anything to create drag. At a wild guess, I'd say crud in the blade pivot area. Give it a bath and a drop of oil.

Sounds like a dirty knife.
If it's screw assembly.
Dismantle, clean, polish and lube.

Rivet construction.
Loosen the pivots.
Run under full stream of hot water
and work the action.
Dry... Canned air or compressed air.
Adjust pivot and lube

It is screw together construction, and I have disassembled, cleaned, and lubed without any change. Right now it is dropping shut but when it starts to bind again maybe I will see if I can put a mark on the ball with a sharpie pen to see if it rolls in the cage or if it is getting stuck? I also wonder if the ball is oblong shaped it may still drag on the blade even when the cage is pulled all the way back?

Pull the lock all the way back to hard stop and move the blade back and forth while it can float. When you find where the resistance is you can dig into it further.
So it started to bind again and when I pull the cage back to hard stop the ball still feels like it is dragging on the blade the entire opening and closing, but before when it was dropping shut the ball could be pulled back enough to not contact the back of the blade. This happens at random, really a head scratcher. The inner pivot has a D shape where it inserts, so can probably rule out it's not because it is rotating causing inconsistencies.

Could be you have a slightly bent PB washer. If you pull em out and put them on a flat, hard surface (both sides) you may find your issue.
