Manix 3?

Enough negativity from me, on to what I want to see in 2016! I'd love to see a Manix 3 to compliment my Manix 2 XL. The XL is a wicked slicer, but I'd love to see an obnoxiously tough throwback to the original Manix. Powerlock, 4mm blade stock and a tough steel like 3V or 4V in the blade. Maybe even a high saber grind instead of the FFG to really maximize the toughness. I love my XL for the cutting geometry, but I'd love to have a nice Spydie to throw in my pocket for the rougher stuff. Anyone with me?

I love the old mini-manix i would be happy with that in 3v would be a beast

At some point I could have sworn I saw a post stating that they're working on a Manix style flipper??
Could be wrong.
Hope I'm not. I need a Golden made flipper.:thumbup::thumbup:

Not a flipper fan myself and I don't buy them any more. To each his/her own, but I really liked I.M.s description and my only preference would be a tough steel with great abrasion resistance and preferably one I don't have already in something else. Manix is a good choice - or Mili even better. I have lots of PM2s. This would be a great seller, IMO.

Doesn't meet all the criteria (lock), but sounds like you could make some use of a Schempp Tuff!

Also, I think there was talk of a future Chinook possible, with PowerLock.

I would love to see a Manix with a different lock.

The lock is the reason my Manix,Manix LW, and XL don't see as much pocket time as they normally would. The lock is great, but for medical reasons, it's painful to disengage.

I pretty much plan on the new Chinook taking my lunch money like a bully in middle school. The Tuff...well I want to like it, but I'm the oddball who does not love titanium framelocks. It's a darn cool folder and, actually, that's another model I'd love to see come back with the Powerlock.

That sucks, man. Maybe we'll see some manual button lock Spydies. I find those very easy to disengage and for anyone with arthritis or other issues with their hands that can become a major concern.

I love this thread and the ideas. I'll add mine

Keep 3v steel or maybe 4v or S7. 4 mm or thicker

I'd like a compression lock. Compression lock flipper would be super sweet

You're correct. I'm not in a position to google-fu it at the moment, but yes. They did mention a Manix-style flipper back when the GB flipper was being discussed.

I like the idea of a compression lock flipper, but I don't know if they could pull it off. It occurs to me the flipper would hit whatever digit you were using to pull the compression lock tab.

Could you move the tab back (around midlock position) to avoid the tab? Less leverage would mean a harder pull to disengage the lock, but it could work?

If anyone could pull it off, it would be Spyderco, so I'm certainly not ruling it out as a possibility. Bruised thumbs just occurred to me as the most immediate issue to overcome.

Love the Tuff - I have two. Great knife. But would like to see PD1, in a different blade shape (Military would be my first choice, but Manix is good too) and different lock.

S7?! You planning on chopping bricks[emoji46] I don't know if anyone has made a sword let alone a knife from S7, but I'd want to see what kind of edge retention it could muster first.

I believe Survive has an economy series in S7 and Busse's SR-77 is pretty much S7 with a proprietary heat treat. The edge retention shouldn't be awful, but certainly not as good as 3V or 4V.
