I used to have a Chinook, Military and Police. Traded all because I never could open with one hand at all unless doing the Spydie drop. My local knife place let me open a Para Mil and a Persistance. WOW. What is going on? Now I easily open them one handed? Is it because of a different locking mechanism? Does this mean I could easily flip open the Full size Millie and Manix 2 XL??

Was it just hard for you to flick them open or to actually rotate the blade to open position with your thumb maintaining contact with the blade?

If a model isn't easy for you to do a pressure flick opening, I wouldn't worry about it. It is "more show than go." I know some people have to have it and that's ok.

I have both the Military and Manix 2 XL and they are both super easy to flip open. The Military has always had the same locking mechanism and the Manix 2 XL while a different type of lock is just as easy to flick open. Both great knives.

Both my Military and XL Manix are exceptionally smooth. Well my Military is breaking in some still. But mt other was very smooth. Flicking both open is possible. I however generally slowly open them. There is plenty of handle to grasp when slowly opening as well.

I have both the Manix II and the military, and they both flip EASY. I think that there is probably a bit more thumb travel on a Military than a Para 2, and there is definately more steel being moved, so more mass, but I never had a problem flipping them open.

I've never had any problem opening either model. Practice with each model for a bit, and I bet you won't have an issue with either one.

It's not the knives.

Agreed. There is a certain level of manual dexterity, fine motor skill, and overall coordination involved. Not everyone has the same level of either, other folks just have poor hand strength.. That is why assisted knives were designed :foot:
