Hey guys, where's all the talk about the upcoming Manix? I know that some of you saw it at SHOT and other shows but there hasn't been much said other than "It was cool but I don't remember much more tnan that."
I know some of you can do better than that. Where's the Secret Bow Tie Camera pictures? How about some super detailed descriptions to help out those of us who haven't fondled it yet?
I need to read some HYPE ;)

I can't wait for this one to come out! Full flat-ground leaf-shaped blade with ChinookII-like construction?!?! I'm droolin'.

I just received my Chinook II last friday, and I really like it. The Manix just sounds even better. :)
Hope to see it soon.

Blades

I just got a Chinook I this week and love it. I handle the Manix at the Blade show and it is like a Calypso jr. crossed with a Chinook. The Manix has a beautiful wide flat blade. I am planning on buying one of these as soon as they come out!

I've got a Chinook II and a Calypso, Jr. -- love them both -- and the idea of putting a flat ground leaf blade on a Chinook II handle blows my mind. This may be the best Spyderco yet -- I must have one. It would be great to have some idea of when to expect them to be available.

Sounds like a seriously fun & functional knife. Chinook w/ a flat ground leaf blade? I'm in. Just one thing- the pix from the "secret bowtie cameras" are actively discouraged by Sal & Co. for a number of good reasons. We'll all have to wait...

Maybe we can get Simona to do a "pic" of what we think it will look like. I'm imagining a Chinese Folder blade on my Chinook II. :)

So the manix sounds very cool. I haven't bought a chinook as it is a little heavier then I am likeley to carry daily but the one I handled was definetly a cool knife. Maybe changing the blade will push me over the edge and I will get the manix. On the topic of upcoming spydies didn't I read somehwere on this forumm that one of the knives they are supposed to release this year is something called the szabofly? Is this what I think it is? Did I hallucinate this? Can anyone shed any light?

I thought the Chinook II would be too heavy for carry also, but it actually carrys very well for 6 oz. of steel and G10. Don't get me wrong, it ain't no Jester, but I think if you tried it for a day or two, you might like it. It is one stout blade, I've been practicing my openings, and it locks up with a nice sounding "thwack" every time. I was thinking of getting a Yojimbo, since it is MBC rated, but now that I have my Chinook II, I'm good! :)

There are definitely two more knives on my list for this year, one of which is most certainly the Manix. I am tempted by the Chinook as it is now, a Chinook with pretty much anything that has less belly than a bowie blade is a must have for me.

Yes.

Did I hallucinate this?
No.

Can anyone shed any light?
No.

It would be nice. Sal had samples of what the Spyderfly and Szabofly might look like at a NY show. Now we have a Spyderfly but for the rest, you'll just have to hold your breath.

Oh, man, I just know I'm going to get into trouble when they do come out with a Szabofly, because I WILL carry it!

Has anyone heard what the MSRP will be for the Manix? Sounds like a great knife but my knife buying allowance looks to be meager this year. So many knives, so little money!

Sort of an off-topic note, but. There were a couple pics in the Japanese 'Knife' magazine of the Szabofly from the SHOT Show.

It's wicked. :D

Your probably looking around $100-120 for the Manix. I'm guessing, if it is going to be built like the Chinook II, then I imagine the price will be close. I doubt we will see the Manix this year, probably next year. Once again, I'm guessing.
:)

Blades

Hey Pyramid, Did the szabofly look big and curvy? Thats all I want to know really. Well and how much its gonna cost and when its gonna come out and well yeah definite trouble

A full flat grind leaf shaped blade with a Chinook II handle & lock. That sounds about like perfection for a hard use folder.

I wonder what the ETA is on this? I'll definitely be purchasing one. Full flat grind, G-10 handled Spyderco's are my favorite.
