Looking to thin out my collection, so i'm selling a lot of stuff and am going yo only buy 2-3 more knives and stop. Mainly for EDC usage. The only knives I currently plan on keeping are my Cuda Maxx Stiletto, BM710HS (edc), and spydie karambit.

As for acquisitions. I plan on buying a BM635 as a sheeple-friendly EDC. I also plan on buying one more EDC/SD knife - either the Chinook II or the Manix.

What do you guys prefer? The manix is slightly larger, but the chinook's blade shape can be characterized by "scare sheeple shietless". So i'm having some trouble deciding.

They are pretty similar in terms of materials, build, weight, bulk and size.

IIRC, I liked the feel of the Manix handle a bit better than the Chinook II, but don’t quote me because I have never had the chance to handle them side by side.

The real deciding factor is the blade shape. The Manix’s blade more versatile and should handle most EDC stuff better. Chinook seems to be oriented more towards defense (including some back-cut capability). For me at least, the Chinook was harder to sharpen.

Hello Ayzianboy:

I've got both a Chinook II and the Manix. I bought the Chinook before the Manix came out. Then I bought a second Manix. I would sell/trade the Chinook in a flash, but you'd need to use visegrips to get the Manix away from me. I think the flat-grind Manix blade is a superior all-round cutting tool.

That being said, I might prefer the Chinook if my needs were purely SD.

Hope this helps a bit.

Best regards.

Indeed, a bowie stlye blade is harder to do detailed work because it's recurve does not allow you to "dig in" so to speak. But if this is not a concern, then it works the same as any other knife. That being said, if you don't mind the size I would go with the manix. But either one is a large knife and not exactly "sheeple freindly"! And Berserker, willing to trade eh? :D

Manix is of course more of a all-purpose knife, but I made my choice few days ago. I was considering Manix but I've chosen Chinook and Im freakin happy with it.
I'm a city boy and Chinook fits pretty well for my EDC  IMO is one of the most interesting designed contemporary folders (thx to Mr. Keating) and I love it. But choosing between them was not easy...
