Hey guys I found a guy in Ukraine that does a lot of stuff with titanium. I have never like the plastic ball bearing cage on my manix two. I asked him if he could make a titanium ball bearing cage. He says he can he just needs some more people to commit to buying some before he will do it. So who else is interested in getting one of these along with me? Here is a link to a picture of what they would look like. I'm not sure what the price will be but this guy is pretty reasonable. Anyway just respond or email me(ncindians08atgmaildotcom) if your interested in getting one and we can hopefully get enough so he will make a batch.

Nice piece of machine work. Still, one of the reasons given for using titanium for the locking liner on Walker lock knives and the lock side of RIL framelocks is that titanium and steel tend to "stick" to one another. Not sure if that would be desirable between the cage and the ball, spring, and the sub-frame.

I don't believe the titanium actually comes in contact with the blade or channel. From what I understand it basically just keeps the ball bearing from falling out.

Hi Luke, please do not put your email out on the page. You will end up with a ton of spam and junk you do not want. Use use ncindians08atgmaildotcom instead. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the heads up I just changed it. I didn't realize that might happen.

The ball cage doesn't actually touch the blade. It just moves the hardened steel ball back and forth.

Spyderco has been around the block a few times and sold thousands and thousands of knives with this lock. Manix 2, Manix XL, and P'Kal.
If it was an issue they'd never use it or use something in a different material.
However, it would be fun to have one and stay playing with different ano colors ;)

Got one coming in the mail to check fit and finish. I will update when I get it and try it out. And I know the lock is not an issue. The manix is just my favorite knife and I think it would be sweet to have a ti ball cage.

Any updates on this ?

With the current situation in the Ukraine I wondered if mail delivery might be adversly affected, if not and the price is right I will take a couple.

It would be nice if the people making or selling this had the proper membership. We have Knifemaker / Craftsman / Service Providers here who pay for the status to sell on Bladeforums.

Keep this in mind before opening the product up for sale, and put the sale in the Exchange.
