Manix ????

I just recently purchased a PE Manix and love the feel of this knife. The weight, the width of the blade and the G-10 handles. I have one question that mabey you can answer. Does it take a while to break in the opening of the blade? What I mean is that opening the knife is a little tight. I losen the pivot and then it developd horizontal blade play not much but some. So to get this out I have to tighten it and of course it is harder to open. I have no vertical play whatsoever. So, is this normal? thanks.

Have you lubricated the pivot? If yes, what was the lubricant?

My Manix was a little stiff until I lubricated the pivot. Now it it smooth like grease on glass. I love this knife!

What did you use for lubricant? Tuf-Glide, or something like that?

I used Miltec but from my other post I did not heat the knife before I applied it.

I used Disotec XFR that I picked up at SHOT. It works great.

Mine did not come tight or require any sort of break in or for that matter lubrication out of the box, although eventually applied Miltec to the pivot.

Adjusting a pivot can be trial and error. Unless something is wrong, you should be able to reach an ajustment where the blade opens smoothly and with little friction but with no perceptable play.

If it feels gritty you could try washing the knife with dish soap and lots of hot water, working the soap and water into the action. Then dry and apply lube.

I use militec-1 to all my knives, especially Manix lately, action is smooth and i love that knife with every new day.

I carry a Skirmish and a Manix and I have to say that the Manix for me is the bomb!!! I re-applied Miltec-1 and it seems smoother so I can't complain. Thanks for the info.
