Manix2 modification

I just started working on another Manix2. I started by utilizing a chain ring bolt as a lanyard tube. I'm in the process now of cutting a collar that fits between the liners. It will slide over the chain ring bolt between the liners. This will allow the tail end of the knife to be sandwiched together. I ditched the flared tube altogether. I have red, blue, green and gold chain ring bolts also. This is still a work in progress. The pocket clip gets a little tricky but looks like it will be fine.

Well it looks like the clip works fine.

Finished up the chain ring lanyard tube. Now I can swap out different scales without any issues. Here is a pic. I know there is 5 other ways to do this, but this works for me.

Nice work. Very well done. Much more ambitious than I would be. :p

Very nice, I bet you could sell these if you wanted, probably not worth it though or maybe just the machined collars for those of us with lots of chainring bolts around :)

On the XL, or the PM2 I don't mind the press fit tube so much (but would still rather have an easy to remove/use screw/bolt) but on the smaller Manix 2 I've never liked the idea that press fit tube is the only thing holding 2/3 of the knife together, I'm sure it would never fail just not my preference.

Mine was loose from swapping scales. I like to make custom scales for my favorite edc's. The pm2 doesn't have this issue at all it has another stand off near the back . I have another manix that I just flared the tube back out after getting my custom scales installed. I've seen people use screws through the clip holes. I'm loving the chain ring bolt on this Manix. I would not need this if I wasn't into making scales. I want to also say, the Manix is one of my favorite knives.

I really like this modification. Where did you get the chain ring bolt? Any chance I could pay you to make me a collar to fit between the liners like you did?
