Manix2 pivot bolt question

I have the S90V Manix2 and have decided to give it some light use to see how I like it.

The pivot seems a little tight but both sides have a torx head. I am assuming one side is male and the other female. However on some knives I have seen a flat utilized so that one side won't turn. I don't want to go torquing on something that is not supposed to turn.

Anyone know what the pivot bolt looks like and if both sides are indeed meant to rotate? If so will they both unscrew (back out)?

I know it's a simple stupid question but don't want to damage anything while attempting to do something as simple as adjusting the pivot.

Thanks

I only have the G10 version, but the pivot on mine has a small flat area on the obverse end to keep it from rotating. If you're going to completely take it apart, you'd probably want to do the reverse side first, but you can loosen the screws a little bit without worrying about the pivot bolt spinning. You can see the flat section in the pics below (plus the hidden date, which is kinda cool.)

My Manix 2 has the new "integral bushing" type pivot pin, but I don't know if all M2s use it. Theoretically at least, you should be able to fully tighten down all of the screws and the blade will still swing open and closed freely. That's the case with my knife, but some people have reported that they can adjust the pivot tension on their M2s, so YMMV.

Thanks for the reply and the great pictures!

It seems the lanyard hole is pressed into place. Did you have much trouble removing the scales and liners from the tubing? Did it have a tight fit when you put it back together?

I am thinking about using some fairly fine grit sand paper and removing a couple thousandths off the BB cage to try and reduce any friction. Also thinking about making the spring a little shorter and hopefully taking a little tension out.

Does this sound like a bad idea? I have been opening and closing it for awhile now and doesn't seem to be getting much easier to operate the CBBL. If it was as easy as an AXIS lock I would be a lot more enthusiastic about the knife.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the lanyard tube is just press fit into the handle, but I didn't bother to remove mine; I just kind of scissored the two halves of the handle apart after removing the screws. It was easy to put it back together and tighten everything down.

There was a tiny bit of flash on the polymer cage that I ground off with a small file. It wasn't affecting performance at all, but it looked like it wasn't supposed to be there (hopefully :o). Other than that, I would be very reluctant to mess with the lock at all. It seems really simple, but it's hard to know what will happen when you use out-of-spec parts.
