Manix2 XL Blade Play?

I’ve heard from a couple people that the Manix2 XL is prone to developing blade play early but that the regular Manix2 is not. Is this true? How can this be?

I don't have an XL but I have a few regular Manix2’s and they are all rock solid even after years of use.

The Manix 2 has 2 screws holding the front backspacer together, the Manix XL does not. The Manix XL only has the 2 screws that hold that front backspacer in, and an internal floating pin that holds the front part in. That area of the Manix 2 will remain sandwiched together, when on the XL it will be allowed to spread due to no 2 front screws, allowing side/side blade play.

Ah , got it. Thanks.

If they replaced that front floating internal pin with 2 screws, I believe that would make the XL lock up as solid as the Manix 2.

I wonder if the back lock Manix 2 has this issue then? It has a similar screw setup to the XL.

The backlock Manix 2 is solid as a rock, at the least the one I had did. Others from what I read here too! For some reason, those floating stop pin knives seem to be much more solid in the lock up department. The side/side blade play is pretty common in the Manix XL platform, not so much the Manix 2 models.
