I am trying to research this axe I have. If anyone has any information that would be greatly appreciated. When I do searches on google I find links to worthpoint, and e bay but all the ones I am finding are in real poor shape.

Basically I am looking for an approximate age for it, and maybe an estimated value.

I don't plan on selling it anytime soon but I just want to know what I have.

Thanks!

Mann Edge Tool Co was one of the main axe makers for our country. They "technically" might still be in business, though for the most part they are not.

They made axes, hatchets, etc for all, and many companies as well. What you have there is a nice find, no doubt.

I cant tell from the pictures, does it have an epoxy eye on top?

Thanks for the response. I just looked and didn't see any epoxy. As far as I can tell the handle is original and everything is still the factory finish.

Nice old axe. In the right antique booth around here it would not surprise me to see it in the $200 +/- neighborhood

Couple other things to look at here - on the opposite side of the axe head, is it imprinted Mann Edge Tool Co Lewistown Pa? Also, is there a number on it for weight? They made those in many weights, 2 lbs up to 6 lbs bruisers. Are there any markings on the handle? Mann took over Collins in 1966 - and they sometimes used the handles that Collins had left over - that can help to get you into a ballpark time frame.

Overall it is a great piece, and I know a guy who likes paper labels and would probably take that off your hands.

Bumping this thread...still would love to learn more info about my axe. Anyone know the age of it, if it all looks original, possible value?

From what I gathered from earlier posts- Age newer that 1966, possible value $200 +/- ???? Any more confirmation or related info would be greatly appreciate.
