Ran across a nice looking Mann GoldBond double bit today. Problem is one side is shorter than the other by about one inch. My question is are all double bits even, length wise, on both sides?

Double bit are made with equal sides. Often one bit is used for clean work and the other for dirty work. As a result you get uneven wear. But I've never seen a whole inch of difference. That thing must have been beat hard.

Maybe somebody else knows of a special exception to this for that particular axe but it seems very unlikely to me.

That was my thinking too. Overall it looked great. Too bad, would have liked to own one.
