Hey guys, new to the spidy forums. I just purchased a mannix II spyderco online recently and I was really surprised at several things. First off, I come from the fixed blade world and so this is something new for me. I finally found the reason and usage to purchase a better quality folder and said what the heck. I will mention-before I was carrying some junky gerber model as a folder. If I was hiking or camping- Id be carrying a nice fixed blade. Preferably a Busse Anyway, I was really shocked at the size of this folder. It is much larger then I had anticipated. I really love the look, the fit and of course the overall finish of the blade. The g10's seem to be real grippy and I could even see being able to really use this knife with gloves. The knife really snaps open quickly and comes to life. The grip of the blade makes you feel like you can slice and slash through anything. Backpacking and simple rope cutting and stuff to heavy dressing and skinning. This really seems to be an amazing universal knife I will be carrying around for a long time. I was really close to getting a benchmade, and ironically- I ordered a benchmade tomahawk recently-which is really nice and thick steel- but I was really upset by how dull it came and how the lack of details were shown elsewhere. Anyway, thats why I decided to go with the Spyderco after reading they came very sharp and always heard good things. This thing is razor sharp and its ready to play out of the box. I actually thought I might have to touch it up and I was pleasantly surprised to receive such a good quality piece of american craftsmanship. I didnt even get into the locking system and a couple of other areas.... but this blade really excels in all areas and I am thinking that after only having it for a short while and never really being able to test it yet in true wilderness conditions. If given the chance-I know this beefy strong buck burly folder could easily help save my life if I were in such a dire situation. Thanks guys. -Craig
