An A.G. Russell® ExclusiveA blast from the past, the Friction Folder, in the simplest terms, is a non-locking knife. There is no locking mechanism and no detent to hold the blade in the closed position. The knife is held closed simply by the friction created between the washers and the handle material rubbing on the blade. The blade is held in the open position by your hand wrapped around the handle and the "tang" of the blade as you use the knife. The blade cannot close until you remove your hand.
The Mantis Friction Folder has a 2-1/2" drop point blade of CPM-S30V stainless steel with a hardness of about 59 Rc. The handle is layered black Carbon fiber. Measures 3-3/4" closed and weighs 2.6 oz. Made in the U.S.A.
