After several hours on the Net, I've finally found out what knives to buy and for some reason they all happen to be Buck knives. I intend to buy a Vanguard 192BR, a Mantis 198BKX and a Colleague 325, but first I want to check with you Buck connoisseurs.

Do you have any hands on experience with these knives?

Where do I get a sweet deal on these knives?

Thanks for helping me out!

Welcome to the Buck forums!!!!!

I love the 192 Vanguards!!! Its a great knife, you will like it ;)
As far as the other 2 I have no idea, I believe they are "offshore" models?
Good deals???? Maybe check local sport shops? Buck knives for sale thread maybe???
Good luck, and don't forget we like reviews and pics :)

Thanks! When I found the Vanguard it was love at first sight. Then I kept looking for other knives with the same shape, but the closest I've come is a Benchmade knife. Do you know if the Vanguard has been manufactured with any other blades then those provided by Buck and Calesta's? Thanks again!

They make it with different steels, and they have a guthook version that is made with the same handle. The premium steel versions are hard to find though, except for the S30V that Cabelas sells. Good luck!

The Mantis is one of the Bucks made in China. With that said I they are a good user type knife. It's smaller size makes it sit nice in the pocket.

Back when I picked up a Mantis, Kmart had them on clearance for $6.00. I don't know if Kmart has any of these around anymore or not?
