Yes, I love karambits and i have been thinking about buying my first "nice one". I previously looked at mantis knives and was impressed with mantis's sleek/show-offy design and their price.

So, i want to know. is it worth it? should i buy a mantis karambit? and dont stay stuff like "ermugurd nah go fox or something expensive" I really want to know your opinion on mantis and only mantis, no "This Vs This" stuff.

im looking at specifically the MK-3vXb Encore (some thoughts on this specific knife would be appreciated also)

Thanks for your help/time guys

P.S.- Link to Encore: http://mantisknives.com/Product Zoom/MK3vXb Encore/mk3vxb_encore.html

My thoughts on Mantis (or Quartermantis/QTRM5TR for that matter) can be summed up thusly: "do not want".

They don't have a good rep here for many reasons.

That aside, I would look at that knife closely before you buy it. I don't think I would want to use it. The things that make it look cool are likely going to make it hard/painful on your hand to use while also eating up the pocket of your pants if you carry it any.

Ecos are worth a look if you want a fixed blade version to use.

Garbage.

Not in any way, shape, or form a nice karambit.

But, from the sound of your post, I get the feeling you are getting one regardless of what we say.

I have a Mark 2 - Cinq 2 - probably the most uncomfortable knife I've ever held. Some styles, though not the karambits, are very like some SanRenMu designs, SRM are better quality going by what I have.
Try looking elsewhere, these are not good.

I say you should buy it.

Yes, it's made of mystery steel.
Yes, it's made by people of somewhat dubious integrity.
Yes, it will tear your pockets up in about a week.
Yes, you'll be seen by adults as a mall ninja.

But, we all like what we like and you have many years ahead of you to regret this particular purchase.

Do it! Dooo eeeet!

Before the fever subsides. Which brings me to my point (see what I did there?).

We are all bundles of conflicting drives. Some paths will become familiar. Learn what they feel like from end to end. This is going to end badly. There are a number of reasons for this, the knife, the manufacturer, but most important of all the factors is your infatuation with it. Your desire. Feel it. It's a little like being in love. You lose perspective and all rational judgment goes out the window. Some marketer just had you. He pushed all of your important buttons deliberately and he got you. This will not be the last time, trust me.

So, pay attention, but take the whole ride. You can afford it this time, and the experience will serve you in the future.

MANTIS RULEZ!!!

Classic "I didn't hear what I wanted to hear one and done," it appears.

My wife has a Spyderco Karambit. That is a bad, bad, boy, that knife. She manages to "use" it if repairmen are in our place and she's alone.
