hello,

saw the mantis mt 7.2 youtube video today.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz4_dEyBXj4

first thing i thought, man this knife looks like a sanrenmu t08
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uFTCCrgEs0

mantis says ...
The knife is a great example of American and Canadian ingenuity and what we as a great North American partnership can achieve when we really dig in' and get hungry. Look for the Folding Pry II at better knife retailers across the USA in August of 2012

i thought the most stolen designs are from chinese companys but not in this case, :D

... my youtube comment and my abo were deleted from mantis Inappropriate Icon removed.

I feel sorry for anyone who takes that company or it's products with any seriousness at all, but if that is the case, save yourself some time and send him money, forget about the knife.

Yeah, they copied a Chinese knife. Words fail me... they have "uploader comments approval" set to on and ratings disabled so no one can dislike it.

What a joke. A company of thieves.

It gets real interesting in that it's not clear which one is the copy. The Sanrenmu has been sold for maybe a year now, and the mantis looks like it hasn't hit the market yet. To further stir the pot, the Sanrenmu may actually be a counterfeit! And to put a cherry on top, it may be a counterfeit that appears to have nicer specs and a significantly higher price than known genuine Sanrenmu knives! ...in a world gone mad...

I know Mantis haters abound on BF, but my limited experience says they are a legit outfit whose biggest sins have nothing to do with knives, but rather, being brazen capitalist mall ninjas with no regard for Bladeforum rules.

Also looks like the Extrema Ratio RAO design. I don't know which came first.

Let's not forget the whole eye makeup thing. ;)

I'm going to guess the RAO came first since it's been out for at least a couple years and actually has reasons for looking the way it does (unique pin lock system).

Extrema Ratio does make some good knives and the makers are good folks from what I have read. There is just not enough of a strong following on their products from what I've seen.

Extrema makes a great knife, I recently bought a BF3 and the build quality is absolutely phenom, this coming from someone who usually uses CRK knives.

I'm not a fan of Mantis knives; How ever anyone who has recently purchased a GT knife has purchased a knife made by Mantis.
