Mantis MU-3. Any opinions?

Seen a few reviews of Mantis knives on here and the reviewers were suprised at the overall quality of the knife vs price.

That knife though , it said 18 pounds, so I guess that's British.
What does that translate to in American ?

I only posted that link because it was a decent picture on google images. American it can be found for less than $25.

It's a well made knife. I had one, but sold it. I still have the MF-4CM. The problem with the MU-3, IMHO, is that it's rather large when it's in its sheath. For such a relatively small knife, OAL with sheath shouldn't be over 6" IMO. I guess it's good for what I've read is its intended purpose, to be hooked to a carbinger for climbing/hiking.

The other Mantis is very nice. The blade is thick, sharp, very good F&F, & the nylon holster with plastic insert is compact & usable.

I don't know how good their 420HC steel is, but the FB I still has is a very decent 154 CM.

Hope that helps.

The length did seem to defy its diminutive appearance on the photos.

I've also just noticed a similar style of blade from Rob Dalton, apparently it's a sleeve dagger: http://www.pvk.com/dalton/ 7th up from the bottom.

Now I would certainly have confidence in the quality of that without seeing it for myself! A pretty good price too.
