I like the look of the Mantix 2 XL and was thinking of buying one for my next EDC it's either that or the Military, Now my question is how easily does the Mantix 2 Sharpen and what is the easiest fastest way to sharpen these blades?

Dazed,

The best tool for just about any Spyderco is the Sharpmaker.

The Military and Manix 2 XL are much alike to sharpen. Both are pretty easy with the Sharpmaker.

I would say our forum members would be split between the Military and Manix 2 XL. Both are very fine knives.
I have both, and like the Manix just a little better. Both are kept razor sharp with the Sharpmaker.

I would say the Manix2 XL, personally. It's cheaper, the blade is stockier, you can change the pocket clip position, the lock is more fun, and the handle is more ergonomic. I've zip-waved mine, and it's an absolute beast.

As far as sharpening goes, I was able to touch up my blade from fairly dull to almost a factory edge in about five minutes with a handful of passes on a diamond sharpener followed by some careful passes with a ceramic rod. I've had much harder times with other knives, especially 440C and AUS8 knives.

the Manix2 XL is one of the most amazing larger knives I've owned. Spyderco did a great job updating the classic with the CBBL. it just feels right in my hand, and have no issues to speak of in regards to the quality of the knife.I simply touch up the edge by stropping on an old belt and a couple swipes on the Sharpmaker.

Hey Dazed! Have you compared the size of the XL to the standard Manix? I have both, and carry the normal size more as the XL is really a huge blade!

Either will make you happy I'm sure, I have no experience with the Military, but I can recommend the Manix family hands down any variation.
