Manual Chain Saw - Repair Query

Interesting concept, eh? I have one (well, two now :o, since Home Dep and Wal-Mart can't direct me) of the above items. It's marketed under the Winchester mark, and produced by Carolina Knife and Tool. The reason I have two, is that the first on popped a rivet in the chain and now I have one and two halves.

My query? Does anyone know what kind of business place I can go to to have the saw repaired (i.e., have that one tiny rivet replaced)? I'm currently living in Colorado Springs, CO.

Alternatively, does anyone have contact info for Carolina Knife and Tool (like an e-mail address)??

Carolina Knife and Tool is a Division of Gerber, and they were/are responsible for the Winchester line. You can get in otuch with them by contacting Gerber customer service. They may be willing to help you, though they often don't have any warranty coverage on that line.

I recommend you buy a Pocket Chainsaw- a few bucks more (mine cost $15), made in Michigan, and they are good quality. http://www.pocketchainsaw.com/

A rivet is just a piece of soft steel (or other) rod with a head peened on both ends. Got a nail the right diameter?

If you don't want to DIY, places that might be able to fix a broken rivet or link: Chainsaw or garden shop, bike shop, real old-fashioned hardware store (are any of these left?).

I second what others have said though, for the cost of the repair you might be well on the way towards the cost of a better saw.
