manual folder?

Sorry for the nube question but what the heck does "manual" folder mean? I'm a huge fan of fixed blades. I only have two folders right now. I have a geber gator and a SOG flash II. I had a CRKT M16-SFG loved that. I have no idea where it went. I'm thinking about getting another one. I'm also looking at the spyderco endura and the cold steel recon 1. However manual folder keeps poping up. What does that mean?

That about covers it. You use your thumb to push the blade open, or possibly flick it. No springs or other system to push the blade out for you.

As a newb i started buying assisted folders. Now, after buying such knives as hinderer and spyderco, i much prefer manual openers. IMO they can be just as fast.
