my torsion bar in my leek broke, but i stripped one of the handle screws so i cant put a new one in. i contacted kershaw amazing warranty department and they are sending me new screws and a new torsion bar for free!!! but in till the torsion bar arrives i am stuck with a manual knife. is there anyway to keep it from opening on its own? the torsion bar kept the blade closed when it was working, but now it is just a normal knife, and i can easily flick my wrist to open it still, but when i close it it wont stay closed? i dont like the safety, whats the point of having a knife if you can open it when you need to? is this one of those things i just have to put up with in till i get the new torsion bar and screws?(they should be here in a week) if there is a way to keep the blade closed without the use of a safety, then i might just carry it without the speedsafe.

I think you answered your own question, the safety is how you keep a deassisted leek from opening on its own.

Could not have said it better myself. Unfortunatley there is no detent so safety is what you have. You have to make your own decision of to use the safety or be without it.

Atleast you have a safety on the leek. there are alot of other speed safe knives that if you broke the t-bar in you would be up poop creek without a paddle. Just sayin'.
