Manual wind watches?

I'm kicking around the idea of getting a manual wind watch. Are there any out there from high-end manufacturers that are simple, durable, high quality, and would fit on my six inch wrist? :) Let's pretend that price is no object. :D Thanks.

Panerai 61 Ti and 44mm, manual wind...

Geez, Joel. That's a very nice watch and all, but Kevin did say six inch wrist. ;) :D

Seriously though, Tutima also makes a pretty nice watch that meets your specifications with the manual wind Valjoux 7760 movement:

Joel-

THAT is beautiful. :) I didn't realize that Panerai made manual-wind watches. I think that would be far too large for me though. :( Does the 44mm diameter include the piece over the crown?

That Tutima has a nice classic look, and I think it would probably be of a more manageable size. Thanks for the information. :) I'm definitely going to give that one some consideration........

Hi recluse!

I have a 6.2" wrist and the 44mm sits just right!:D

They also have a 40mm model, but it's automatic (so you'll need a class III permit;) )

regards,

Anybody want to tell me why you'd want to have a watch you have to wind? It seems neat and all, but after a while, it seems like I'd either get sick of it, forget to wind it, or both. I had one many years ago, and was thrilled when I got my first quartz watch, and over-joyed at my first perpetual motion winder.

Enlighten me.

when the EMP bomb goes off in your neighbourhood, everyone will be asking you for the time:)

I've been thinking about a mechanicl watch also. Howabout a Military issue wind-up from Stocker and Yale?

JB,
Watches are a little bit like optics insofar as the "you get what you pay for" rule has some application. As long as you understand that you're buying a hundred dollar watch (that probably cost $35 to manufacture) I think you'll be very happy with a mech from Marathon or S&Y. For my money, I think that the tritium vial illumination alone makes these watches a bargain. You can do a little comparison between the Marathons and the S&Ys here:
