Manufacture Stamps, A Question

I understand the premise of the "born-on" markings on the blade. I have a question though. My Leek 1660BB (the blue-and-black aluminum handles) have "JAN 08", then my 1660CKT (all black) has "Jan 08", and now my 1660CB (composite blade) has "MAY 08".

Question is, when and why did Kershaw switch from all capital letters in the month of manufacture to upper-and-lowercase lettering? At first I though I got a defect because I've never seen one with a mix of capital and lower-case letters in the month stamp. Even within the same month (January of 2008) it seemed to change. What's up?

I don't think there was actually a switch...from what I can tell they just like to "mix it up"...:D

Ray :)

The ones with the month in all caps are counterfeit.

You need to send them to me for verification immediately. While you're at it, you should send the 1660CKT for comparison as well.

(Sorry, not normally my style, but I figured someone would have done it sooner or later anyway. :D)

Yes, my Rainbow Leek 1660VIB has "MAY08" mark - all caps.... I thing it doesn't matter in what case that label...

I'll be sending them to kneedeep for authentication. Please post your shipping address for us to see so we can send you our counterfeits.
