Any idea who might be a manufacturer of there kukris? The only thing I was able to get from the seller was "they are shipped from Nepal".
They sell them under the listed names.

how can you tell that they are crap? ... i am far from being an expert at quickly analysing a kuk when I see one, so this is a purely informational/honest question,

ok, what I see from these pictures is: blade seem pretty slim, back seem to have some kind of a curve (might be because of the perspective effect though), the butcap of the 'Nepal army' is definitely huge / too thick, ...

other than that i have a hard time further analyzing the blades from those pictures,

I think he's joshing you Alex. They look like good Nepalese khukuris to me. Some of the qualities, like edge holding ability, you're only going to know from use.

mmh ... I thought this was a serious statement
got to open my eyes a bit more here :)

They look fine to me. Most Nepalese kukris will do the job. I've learned it can be hit-and-miss with any handmade kukri. I've had $50 kukri house kuks outperfom $140 HI kuks (ok,let the flaming war begin). With an HI kuk you are guaranteed that if your kuk fails, you can get it replaced or repaired for free. My two favorite kuks currently are an HI 18" Ang Khola and a KH WWII. Both chops things into little bits without little if any trouble. With a kuk from an unknown or little known maker you run the risk of getting lemon that they let the new shop boy have a hand in help out with.

Wthout getting into a discussion of who makes better khuks, the point (or edge) is that I have bought a lot of HI khuks and found them to be great at holding an edge as well as holding their shape. Build quality is excellent and the guarantee is the best in the business.

I can not imagine going anywhere else.

With other brands, you take chances that you do not take with HI. I have bought some of them and usually been disapointed when I compare them to HI.

Why go there?

Regarding the original post. The khuks look good from the pictures,. The question is how do they perform today, tommorrow and in your grandson's hands fifty years from now.

I'd still put my money on HI.
