I recently was told by a forum member friend type that at least on Ebay, gold was bringing feces, and feces was bringing in the gold (metaphorically speaking). I think maybe he was correct. Maybe some scholarly type can get a grant to do a study of the rational (or lack thereof) of ebay buyers. Would make an interesting read.

Codger, here in dairy farm country, one mans stinking manure pile is another's grade A prime fertilizer. Still its fun to watch guys go nuts bidding, six months ago this knife would have been lucky to go for 20$, including shipping.
 
I agree. Not three months ago I bought that same knife "as new", though not NIB, for $25.
