I have collected knive since a kid. While undergoing chemo and while going crazy I decided I would give making a shot. This is my first; profiled, ground, heat-treated, and finished. I have never used any in my collection; was worried it would be the same way with this one. I am surprised I don't feel that way, I went straight to the woodpile and tryed to destroy it in some oak and eucalyptus (very hard when dry).

Just shy of 8"
Removable natural G-10 scales
And of course my favorite blade style; wharncliffe

What are the screws screwed into? The blade?

I really like your knife and it's design. Good job!

My compliments. Good to read you feel well enough to make a knife.
Chemo sucks!
(a good looking knife as well!)

The blade is 3/16" and I used what are called standoffs, some of the knife supply houses sell them or an electronics supply house. They were originally used to seperate circuit boards, basically just a threaded sleeve.

Thanks for the positive comments! I really didn't feel well anough to do it but on the few so-so days I couldn't just sit around.

Nice job David. I don't have cancer, but I do have a chronic illness that makes me feel awful. I feel best when I am in my shop, working at my own speed in a temperature range of my choosing. If I can create something I feel good about my day. I do wish I had more productive time each day, but it is what it is.
Hang in there, and keep making things that will show you have been here.

Great looking knife. I would be proud to make that my 100th knife, let a lone first.

Love the choice of handle scales, and blade shape combo. I am a big fan of warnies.

Great job David ! Looks like you have some serious grinding skills there !
Best wishes.

Great job on the 1st. My 1st looked like hammered horse huckey pucks!

Good luck with the treatment and God bless.

Top notch building there...I can appreciate someone who can make a knife like that with an illness tugging him on the sleeve the entire time. Good job, best of luck to a speedy recovery also!
