No advertising for non-forum supporting dealers. If it's such a deal, tell them to give back to this site. Until then, no advertising.

Trying to help out with fantastic deals. I got great deal on a Benchmade 31 ($75).

Geoff, you're way out of line.
Maybe you could spend alot of your own money and buy a server and start a forum and let all the dealers you want post on it.
Spark owns this forum, it is his private property, he puts alot of money and time into it and if he wants to charge dealers for advertising here that's how it's gonna be.
The forum is for talking knives, having fun, etc. but it's not free.
1SKS was started to help support this forum.
If this was my forum, you'd be banned. Not for your first post but the second.

I'm posting the basic tenet of BladeForums:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Be nice*
Pretty simple, isn't it?

It's our philisophy- Be nice to others and they will be nice to you. It's a proven one as well- when there aren't attacks and nastiness, the level of discussion and the sense of community always increases.

This is not to say that you cannot disagree with anything that you see posted. Just don't be nasty about it. Back up your point of view with facts, logic and reason and you will see the same kind of responses to your own statements.

Show common courtesy, and it will be more than shown to you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Geoff,

Are you sure that you are not ticked off because you won't earn your 'bonus'

I agree, if this were my forum, your posting rights would be witheld. Your second post comments were rude, crass and unhelpful.

You post here because Spark has decided that you can. You agreed to the rules when you registered. The least you can do is abide by them.

I, along with most others on this forum, are always after the best deal possible, but we are all able to trawl the net with a knife keyword, and most will buy the knife for the BEST price, not necessarily the CHEAPEST. The value of a knife is not merely dependent on it's purchase price. Other things are valued, like dealer courtesy, delivery, backup, reputation... I could go on forever.

An apology to Spark wouldn't go amiss either.

Regards,

Doug

well posting about finding a good deal on a site is ok i think like if you see a particular knife thats on sale and you mention it i think thats ok but if you clearly advertise for a company and in turn are getting compensation for it then the admin has the right to delete your post, running a forum is definitely NOT free it's quite costly, and this forum is so big too so money for bandwidth is high.

Fine I'm out of line,

1st of all anyone may be compensated if said company initiates a referral program which they have yet to.

2nd of all at least 15 of you self righteous people bought Balisongs from said company within three days of me posting about the deal i got in the Balisong Forum. So apparently at least some people here care about a good deal and took advantage of my attempt to help my fellow knife nuts. PRIOR to said company considering to initiate a referral bonus

3rd of all it seems a little petty to delete a post based purely on the fact that said company does not throw any money at the forum.

4th yes, whoever owns the server can do whatever he/she wants but why choose to do that at a detriment to everyone who MAY have been interested in a good deal. Not all of us have unlimited funds to spend on knives and REALLY enjoy finding super deals on knives.

5th I do regret my previous post and it will be edited by me ASAP i meant no disrespect to anyone but was completely enraged at the suggestion that it was spam, i was lying, or somehow in cahoots with said company (which is not even primarily a knife retailer therefore would not sponsor a knife forum)

6th i will not be posting here anymore. If anyone wants the info that was censored email me and i'll send the website to ya

out

Geoff,

It's actually rather simple. . .there are RULES here. And you violated the SPAMMIN' RULE.

No matter how you hard you try to justify it. . . You CAN NOT advertise if your a NON-PAYING dealer.

It's no big deal.

And you don't have to go away. Stick around. . .you may learn a little something from us. . .or end up learnin' us something. ;)

But to keep from gettin' your feelings hurt. . .ya might wanna read the rules that govern this forum.

Point of information:
If you think my post was harsh, just realize the hero edited and deleted what he wrote in his second post. It wasnt nice.

Geoff,

We appreciate that you were trying to spread the news about good deals to everyone. That's totally cool.

However, I think you're taking it too personally that your post got yanked letting your emotions get the best of you. See it from a business standpoint.

BladeForums needs revenue to keep this site up. A lot of these revenues come from their advertisers and the inhouse stores. All of whom are advertising for one purpose, to sell their products. So how do you think BladeForums's advertisers -- who pay for advertising space -- are going to take seeing some other company getting free promotion and advertising and stealing their business? Probably not too good. It's like going inside of a Burger King and handing out free McDonald's coupons.

I hope this sheds more light on why your post was yanked. It had nothing to do with you personally. It's just business.

Not too long ago, I found a place that sells Spydercos and other knives cheap (e.g. a brand new Gunting for $96.95). However, out of respect for this forum and it's advertisers, I would not disclose who it was.

Furthermore, we're all pretty lucky that we get -- what essentially is -- a free service because of all the advertisers and industry support.

FTC

No need to bail out on BladeForums. Just chill out for a while and come back when you're ready to.

There are no longer any advertisors other than 1SKS. Other revenue comes from those who have upgraded their membership.

Hey Geoff stop acting like a baby!!

Rules...read them...If you broke them..No biggie..live and learn.. I love to share about my good deals too. but in the future just say.." I got a good deal..e mail me for details.. no biggiee right.. Bur to get all offended..geez man life is too short...

No offense Ren, but you're not helping the situation by name-calling.

There are more tactful and diplomatic ways of dealing with people besides shooting them down, trying to flex on them, and picking fights. I really wish this would sink in with some of you younger guys who may not have developed the people skills yet.

While we're talking about rules, some of you guys should go to the home page and read the philosophy of BladeForums. It starts: "It's our philisophy- Be nice to others and they will be nice to you..."

Broke a rule say your sorry. Not anything else not i was making a deal not i want money just sorry and go about your merry way.

Not entirely true Mschwoeb - there are dealers with Dealer membership - cost is $850 a year to advertise in the Exchange forums.

Advertisements are not welcome outside of the Exchange forums - and this guy was advertising, pure and simple. If that company wants to advertise here, they can pay just like everyone else.

Dear Geoff

My first thoughts were that the guys were being a bit harsh with you and that after all, everyone likes a good deal, at least I know I do.

However, there are rules here and we all have to abide by those rules, so leave out your delaer and your referral and maybe just tell folks what a good deal you got, without mentioning any names (would that be ok?).

It doesn't help to fight the masses either, especially when you're in the wrong, so I'm going to throw my last 5 cents in and just say that there's a time to just be quiet and the hysteria will die down. Your time is now....

I checked out several knives I've been looking at and they were more or the same price as other online stores. My father is a dealer and I KNOW for sure that those are NOT dealer prices on all the knives I looked at. Not really that good of a deal anyways fellas.

yeah it says the prices change back to normal when there are less then 3 left in stock

if there are more then 3 the deal is good but it says you must call/email about the benchmades because they got in trouble for offering those prices!!! so they must be better then most
