Saw a flash on CNN saying that the US Peace Corps was abandoning their efforts in Nepal. The State Department deemed the country was too dangerous for volunteers.
Too bad. From personal observation the Peace Corps was the most effective tool the US had going for them in this little faraway place. The Maoists, in their effort to "improve" the situation in Nepal, have succeeded in taking away a tremendous asset which was serving those who needed it most. Oh well, the Maoists have blown up so many schools there were not all that many left for Peace Corps teachers to work in so I guess the loss is not all that great after all.
