1.Am I correct that a MAP won't work with the GIB or EERF grinders? If so, how much does that matter for grinding liner/frame lock folders and small fixed blades with variious bevels?
2.Is the GIB the same as the EERF?
3.Are they the most compact grinders?
4.Are the NWG frame kit and Michael Clerc plans the ones similar to the KMG?
5.Will all work with a VFD?
6.Is VFD ideal?
7.Am I correct that for best use I need a 2hp TEFC, single phase, 220v, 1,800 rpm motor?
Or can I get plenty of power from a 110v 1 1/2 hp TEFC single phase, 1,800 rpm motor? I would have to wire in the 220.
8.I can put a kit together or have plan parts cut for me.
9.Anything I left out to help make my decision on which grinder to make?
THANKS!!!

1. Correct
2. No, EERF has only one tooling arm, GIB has two (But they are close cousins)
3.?
4. NO, Michael clerk plans are a clone to the KMG, NWG is not a clone to the KMG
5. Yes
6. Depends
7. Direct drive grinders (EERF, GIB) are best used with a 3600 rpm motor IMO, KMG best to use a 1800 rpm motor. 110v 1.5hp motor is fine for any grinder mentioned above.
8. OK
9. Nope, comes down to do you like to build your own grinder or not. Best bang for your buck is probably a GIB. Much Much easier than building Michael Clerks plans and building a KMG. I have built both. It took me 4-5 months to build a KMG clone and took me one weekend to build the GIB.
SO all depends on whether you want to make knives or grinders I guess.

I'll add one thing about the GIB. I have a few people using a MAP arm with the GIB as is and tell me it works fine. I do have an experimental accessory kit that has a few extra parts to make everything line up the that the MAP arm was meant to be used.

Otherwise, look at blindhogg's answers for the rest. :D

If you want the Map and are willing to build the grinder yourself, I believe that a MAP could easily be fit into a GIP or ERRF with just a few modifications or extra parts.

I think they are very similar.
All are default belt drive .
The NWG is all tubing, the KMG is solid

If 220 is not already there, I believe that 1.5 hp with a VFD is the most versatile on any outlet and I can't stall it.

RPM
Direct drive like Bader GIB and ERRF uses 3600 rpm

The belt driven KMG, NWG and others with 3 pulley system has a ratio of
1/2, 1, 2
so the 1700 rpm motor on high speed is running at the ratio of 2x works out to the same belt speed in SFPM
a final ratio of 1/4 , 1/2 1 compared to the 3600 rpm on a direct drive.
