This one is an order for a fellow forumite. We went through some specifics and designed it based on a drawing he came up with. I only tweaked the grind lines and a couple other things, other than that, this design is his, and a nice design it is IMHO.

Matt,
I knew you were the right guy for the job!... I am happy beyond words with how it turned out! I can't wait to get it in my grubby hands.
Thanks again,
Ryan

Edit:That Sheath is great as well... I really like that the knife sits deep, and the tooling is sharp!

Love it. In fact i love all your blades I am saving to order one. damn college and all its fees

Incredible looking knife

If you don't mind my asking. How did you keep the file work past the scales black?

Thanks Landi and others... I can't take too much credit, I just drew up the shape and a few wanted details, Matt took that and ran with it!

I am building quite the Bailey knife Collection.

Great knife and a BEAUTIFUL sheath!!! I hope I can do leatherworking like that one day!

Do you have any references for how you learned your leatherworking??

Grizzly bear. Most of the sheath stuff I just learned from trial and error. If I could give you any sheath advice, get some decent tools. A nice straight line with an gouger and evenly spaced stitches by using one of the stitch layout wheels, or whatever they are called, can go a long way. Also, get some good oil dyes, or at least the alcohol based ones. I have not had good luck with eco-flo, but maybe that is just me. Finally, get quality leather. I guess the best advice I can give is to enjoy it. I used to look at sheath making as a necessary evil, but now I look forward to trying to make the sheath match the knife as well as I can. My sheaths have improved the most when I dedicated the time to making them and did not just try to throw them together last minute in order to get the knife out the door.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for that! I have a little leatherworking experience from my years in Boy Scouts, but its been probably 15 years since I picked up any leather tools. I remember making belts with stamps and dyes back then and really enjoying it!

I got the knife and all I can say is..... WOW. Matt this thing is amazing, couldn't be better. Thanks again for doing this!
