Maple Burl

I`ll try to get to the shop tomorrow and get some pics. After reading another members comments on my contest knife (not Brian) I may be taking a break from making knives for a while untill I can get some details straightened out.

Will you still make the first run of camp knives?

Well, some people can just be picky can't they? Let's see them do what you do!

I've got 11 of your knives and I see nothing that needs to be fixed.
I seriously hope it's not some sort of "prettiness" thing. Form follows function and your work is outstandingly functional while remaining obtainable.
I've received nothing but compliments from people that have seen your work.

A long time future customer until things turn "pretty",

Dave

+1 to midwest and UDT...have to break out a magnifying lenses and microscope to find anything "wrong" with mine.

Glue coming out from the scales onto the steel like the camp knife shown aint no biggie, you can remove it with ease. Now I would be worried about gaps between the steel and scales.

The reason I would think that John camp knife wasn't "perfect" was because it was for a challenge, not a customer. I mean, if I was making a knife to send to someone that was going to just test it, I wouldn't take a lot a extra time to make it really nice unless I wasn't very busy. I've looked over my Kephart and found nothing like that.

I should have considered it as though it were for a customer. I`ve received 4 more cancellations since the results were posted.

Fair weather friends. To hell with 'em.:barf:
Sounds to me what you're saying is you have some new openings for the converted, no?

I am surprised and disheartened that anyone - much less four people - would cancel their knife based on a very positive review. That's their prerogative, of course, but it is inexplicable and a poor reflection on their character, I think. Perhaps it's time to start asking for a deposit up-front to cover materials.

John, don't let this get you down about your product. You should definitely hold your head high. I hope that the regular rave reviews from those who own and use your knives count for something, too!

All the best,

- Mike

I just looked at all 4 of my JK knives(2 more if you count tin knives) and they all look great(I wouldn't have bought a 2nd if it wasn't). The camp knife was a little rougher since it was going to be beat on(or maybe even broken). Why would they put 1 review of 1 knife over the multiple reviews of multiple knives we have here. Guess we're just blowing smoke up everyone's arse.

I was just looking over my Stomper collection.

Out of all the knives I own, the RUSK is probably the closest I have to grinding/fit/finish perfection.

You could not possibly have done any better, John. Your work is superb.

Can someone send me in the direction of this "review". I've admired johns work on this forum before i even knew who made them! I always remembered the K stamp and always thought "i would love to own one of those" but i always thought they would be too expensive and didn't even know there was an area on the site where i could look because i only visited in the general area pretty much. I'd love to read this idiotic review that got some knuckleheads to cancel their orders. I look forward to receiving my knife for christmas and using the hell out of it. I will post a review both her and in the review area of the overall knife, and bookmark it and periodically write back on it about how the knife does. I doubt there will be any negativity. Really upsets me to see someone talk trash about a fantastic knife maker. Don't let em get you down, if your work wasn't the best you wouldn't have a business to run and people pointing others to you. I myself would want a camp knife to be well put together but not glamorous, i'd rather not feel the need to polish it and baby it because i wanted it to stay perfect. Eh, i'm done, i'd just like to read this review.
