After carrying a Maratac AAA flashlight in my shirt pocket for several years, badness occurred. I checked all my regular shirt pockets, but apparently not all my T-shirt pockets as I threw a load in the washer. I missed the little bugger and it went through both the washer and dryer. Found it when I was folding my clothes. I cringed and gave it a try. Still worked! Just to be safe I opened it, removed the battery and let it sit a few days. I 86'ed the battery.

I'm impressed; but I will redouble my efforts when checking pockets.

It's both impressive and comforting to know that little light can survive those conditions. Good call on the battery, though.

I'm a tad paranoid myself of doing anything similar with my knives or other pocket gadgets. So far, my vigilance has been effective. :)

My copper AAA has been washed at least three times, dried once or twice.
Helps to remove the patina, and add a new one!

Pelican has lights designed for submersion even deeper than youir washing machine !!

I feel like there should be an IPX-WM rating, none of this 1m for 30 minutes or other such BS, what I really need to know is if it will survive a washer. Thats real practical information. (and thats not because I've killed two of my wife's nurse watches in the last year.....)

I have been carrying a maratac for about two years and have washed it and dried it and dropped it countless times and it still is a workhorse.

I have 4 different Maratac lights, and luckily, never washed them. I have a routine when I get home that involves pulling everything out of my pockets. I did lose my AA light for several months, but luckily found it a couple of weeks ago. I'd used it while installing in-wall cable/wire guides for the surround sound, and somehow managed to leave it in the wall. Luckily, I had to fish a couple more cables through there, and it fell out! I was shocked and happy to find that thing!

Hmmm, maybe a new rating for small flashlights. Normal wash, or restricted to wash and wear cycles.

There's one thing about a light being waterproof to X amount of feet in the water and then it's another thing when it gets agitated in the washer. Good selling point for any light.

But then, who's going to be agitated when you're in the water? :) Excuse me a minute Harry, I've got to go on spin cycle...
