Marauder mods

I am pretty sure the Marauder is my next cold steel purchase. I like everything about it pretty much except for the kraton guard.
I’d love to see pictures of peoples mods to this knife, especially if they have added a metal guard!

Be a whole lot simpler to just buy a CS Bowie model that comes with a metal guard . I believe you'd have to completely rehandle the knife and replace the sheath also ?

I like the marauder shape and profile though. The only other bowie i really like from cold steel is the trail master and i have one of those. I guess i could get an ontario sp 10 but i dont like the blade shape or handle as much.

Maybe you are right though and it is more trouble than it is worth.

I did NOT mean to be discouraging . It all depends on how much trouble and expense it's worth to YOU . Some guys would probably do the mod just for fun and to have a unique piece .

I'd grab one and play with it for awhile (as is comes) and see if the handle bothers you . I've had plenty of their rubbery handles , but none with a sub-hilt .

saw a pic here i think where a fella cut off the top side kraton guard. to make it more bush useful I think he said. I prefer it with the guards even though they arent real useful as guard more as visual.

I left mine as is and enjoy it for what it is. many of the ontarios sp's use the kraton guards as well. I assume both companies do it for lower cost but I'm just assuming.

the kraton used as a coating of the handle in the marauder allows you to have excellent handling with a stellar grip compared to other bowie

if you want a combat knife a bit of everything to do with a metal handle as handy as a pencil and as fast as the wind cold-steel LEATHERNECK SF-D2 is the king
