My first post here. I am trying to ID a Marble knife that I found in Florida. It is a skinning knife with an overall length of 6 1/4 inches . The handle has an "archer" on one side and a "wild boar" on the opposite side . I have pictures but I cannot figure out how to attach them. If you can help , I will be glad to send pictures via email.
Thanks
Spence

You'll have to upload the pictures and post them here through a file host site like Photobucket or Imgur.

Could you tell us what text is on the (unsharpened part of the blade nearest the handle)?

Also, what kind of identification are you looking for? It looks like you already know it's a Marbles knife...

Thanks for the reply Macchina.
I can not make out any markings due to the blade has been in the ground for so long that it has a patina on the entire blade. I barely can make out the makers name . Any suggestions. I am just trying to find out how old it is and what model it is. Thanks for your response

clean the red rust off with ultra fine steelwool, soaked with WD-40. (spray on more WD-40 as needed) wipe down. You should be able to see the tang stamps better, and will have stopped the rust from doing more damage.

Does the knife have a wide fuller (large, long, dished out area of the blade)? If so, it is an Ideal.

Also, you do not state what kind of handle material it has on it.

I finally got the pictures figured out. What knife is it and can anyone tell me its age or history.

I do not plan to clean up the knife at this time as it makes a great display as it is.

I would not rub the knife with anything abrasive. I would wipe some oil on it to halt the active rusting.

No offense, but that's not a very good photo. What material is the handle? Ivory, bone, or some sort of plastic?

Where does it say Marbles? Show a picture of the markings. Looks fairly recent, maybe Pakistani made, or Chinese? That is where Marbles knives have been coming from for about 15 years or so now.

The tang stamp appears to be a genuine Marbles logo.
The modern Marbles knives made in Pakistan and China don't rust like that; from what I've seen they're all stainless. The new pins don't look anything like that either.

With a good photo (up close and in focus) we could identify the material and maybe help narrow down the age. You can even put it on a flatbed scanner.

They do have some Pakistani damascus Steel knives, but this one definitely like lime an old marbles skinning knife.

Looks like a Marbles Mini Caper.

Not old, probably no older than 1990s. Most of the real Marbles capers like this I have seen are not stamped, rather laser etched. Later ones from when certain unscrupulous folks owned the brand (and ran it into bankruptcy) were still marked Gladstone but "outsourced" from who knows where.
In addition, Jim Parker made a bunch of Marbles marked knives in the 90s, all of which are suspect as to origin and considered to be counterfeit since Jim did not really have the legal rights to the name.

I think you are right. Probably from the 90's, I'm thinking Mike Stewart era when he was at Marble's. I know most of his knives were lasered. However, I have a few Mike Stewart era knives from '98 that do have stamped blades. It is my understanding the reason they quit stamping 52-100 blades of that era is because they were getting some fractures in the blades. The laser etching solved that problem.

Gentlemen
Thanks for all of your input.
I rub the area around the logo and all it says is MARBLE . There are no markings visible on the opposite side of the blade. The pictures are actually in focus . I found this under a couple of inches of sand and the handle etchings are all worn so that they look out of focus.
So, from all of the feedback it appears to be a Marble Mini Caper . Age unknown?
