I was wondering if anyone has experience with the current production of Marbles (M.S.A.) knives? There is little that comes up in search of this forum, cohoma's nice knife being one of the exceptions. The D2 steel interests me as well. They look nice on-line and I have preference to favor Midwest makers ..........

As your finding little information on the forums it's probably do to the last year of production for Marbles's (MSA) Gladstone was in 03' so there wouldn't be much discussion...but hey that's were Queen fits in since they were the manufactures for these knives and the D2 hasn't changed so your in luck.
Though owning quite a few they're great knives...the other thought would be looking at Northwoods ( Marble's and Northwoods were owned by the same individual at that time ) and again produced by Queen.

Thanks, Jim. I am still a little low on the learning curve. Nice looking knives though.

The old Gladstone-made Marble's are a thing close to my heart. Recent production puts them closer to Rough Rider products. But there are still a few out there if you know where to look (and have the cash ).

the old marbles are an american classics. not only highly collectiable but really do'nt give a lot up in performance to their modern counterparts.

The old Gladstone-made blades were really nice. I've got a leather handled Woodcraft knife and I'd love to find a matching Trailmaker (these are unfortunatly now quite pricey and hard to find).

Unfortunatly, even before they went bankrupt in 2009 only a small number of their knives were still made in the US, most were being made off-shore and were generally considered of significantly lower quality.

I have several marbles knives in my collection. they seem well made and strong. I have 6 or 7 of their folding hunters and have been very impressed with them and their trappers.

I have one of their small, senator pen knives (closed at 2 5/8") made in Gladstone from a number of years ago. It's a jewel of a knife and the small, D2 blades are razor sharp. Italian jigging is scaled to the size of the knife with fit and finish and walk and talk that is top notch. It was pricey though, especially given it's size.

I wish I had picked up a leather handled Woodcraft or Fieldcraft when I had a chance. I didn't pull the trigger earlier because they looked too old-timey for my tastes. Tastes change of course, and now I want one of these classic knives. Just have to keep an eye out I guess.

In addition to D2 they also used 1095 like in my large stockman....

I couldn't be happier with this one my wife got me for Christmas years ago!

Dave Shirleyof Northwoods never actually owned marbles, but he did have an exclusive contract to produce a custom line of their knives just before they went to china.

both the pocket knives, and the fixed blades are quite collectible.
