Haven't seen hail like this in a while! These are pics from my power plant this afternoon. Thunder, lightening, then this hail! It was so loud on the control room roof we had to shout to one another to be heard.
Damage assessment to follow....

Not serious hail ! Last year I saw a car with serious bumps all over it !! That must have been at least golf ball sized hail .It really looked strange !

Hmmm... Sounds like the hail (etc.) got your attention! :D Actually, I kind of enjoy it when Mother Nature puts on a show, just as long as she doesn't get too carried away with herself. Besides thunderstorms, we have tornados and hurricanes down here sometimes.

That was a nasty line of storms which stretched down to New York. As the hail fell here I watched the temperature drop from the eighties to fifties in about 15 seconds.

You call that hail? I've ridden a motorcycle through hail that size. (I really have, and it WASN'T fun).

Largest I have seen here was softball to grapefruit size. That storm totalled virtually every roof in town. The stormchasers said they had never seen anything like it - the storm path was almost a hundred miles long, five to ten miles wide, and pretty well flattened everything in its path. It even totalled one car that was in a garage at the time (hailstones went through the roof  )

I was in the mess hall where I was stationed in Turkey one day when hail that size hit us. Tin roof, big building, totally deafening.

When it stopped, we went outside, the sky was blue again and the sun was shining -- and every plant in sight was stripped of leaves and small branches. The rose bushes all but disappeared. Later, we heard all the crops in the area had been wiped out, and the locals were preparing for serious food shortages.

Amazing--is the the latest in the year the area has had snow or hail?

This was the latest I can remember. By the time it was over, there was over an inch of ice on the ground. It looked like it had snowed. Even this morning there are little snowbanks here and there!

Luckily there was no damage to anyone's vehicles and the plant stayed online! Data from our plant monitoring trends show the ambient temp dropped from 79.8 deg f to 60 deg f in about two minutes!

I am glad that there was no damage to vehicles, AND that your power plant stayed online!!

I was in some big hail when I lived in South Dakota.

Hey Scott--just up the river from you it was more like OO-buck-sized, but a lot of it. Very impressive. The sky just opened up and exploded.

My wife and I were driving to New Brunswick in October some years ago, and we went through a similar hailstorm. Brief but spectacular.

Sweet ! I love a good hailstorm.

Hey , your more than welcome to send some of that down this way. :p

Most interesting hail storm was when I was driving through the Rocky Mtn National Park .Wasn't very big hail but being so high I was IN the clouds !! All I could do is pull over and wait.
