marble slab for leather sheath

Tandy Leather has them. I have seen people suggest going to a counter top/Cabinet maker and asking for the sink drop.

try your local granite countertop place see if they have any small pieces to sell ya!! i got 3 from a local place
 
Some people take a late night trip out to the cemetary... ;) Just kidding, Chuck wouldn't want that kind of karma! But his thread was the first thing that popped into my head!

With Tandy, if you have an LLC or any other business with a Tax ID (in OR you don't need a tax id) you qualify for a free "elite membership" and the discounts are very substantial (many times it's close to 50%).

I've purchased granite surface plates from Tandy (the one I got looks like the one pictured on the woodcraft site, not like the one on the Tandy site but YMMV), Woodcraft (recently had 9x12 for $20 IIRC) and local countertop shops (though most wanted to charge me $50 for a 12"x12" drop).
 
well i guess i'm real lucky then i always try the mom&pop places i found one that charges like A $20 for a12x24 i guess i asked nicely ..
he said the small stuff like that was scrap to him.
 
I have a local granite and marble place that lets me dumpster dive. I have pulled a couple of large choice pieces out.
 
Lowe's and Home Depot both sell marble and granite floor tiles 12"x12" size for a very reasonable price. You'll find them with the ceramic floor tiles.
