Does the Sport 99 come with 52-100 steel or the mystery Alchemite steel? For future reference, could you tell when that change was made? Does it have the thin or thick blade?

The Sport 99 should be 52-100. The switch to Alchemite was Spring of 2002 if I remember correctly. 99's are usually the thicker stock.
