My grandparents recently passed away and when we were going through grandpas shop we found this old marbles #2. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents property growing up and i remember carrying this thing around all the time. I chopped up a lot of stuff with it. One of my uncles said it originally belonged to my great grandfather that lived in the u.p. of michigan. Did a little digging and found an old ebay post dating these to 1902 to 1910. Its not in great shape. The blade guard is bent and if you fold it all the way in to the handle it wants to get stuck. Really happy we found the original leather sheath though. Just thought i would share this thing with you all. Its rather unique in my opinion. See the pics here https://imgur.com/a/pVoB2gf

Pretty cool, and it can be repaired.

For the rust a wire wheel and some care will remove it leaving behind the patina, and the scales can be glued and filled...ect as well.

honestly as long as it doesnt rust any more that it already has ill probably just leave it be. i dont want to damage it further. ill make some kind of display stand and put it in the house or out in my shop.

well im not going to let it rust away into nothing. i just wasnt planning on doing a restoration.
With a wire wheel and a light touch you'll remove the rust without any evidence of it being worked on, then you can just give it a light coat of mineral oil.

I think that's a good call. Leave it as is and just give it a light oil to stop further rust.

It's super cool! I love the detail in the handle and the original sheath.
