Im looking pretty hard at one of these to carry as a backup to my Bravo 1 for fish cleaning, small game cleaning and small carving tasks.

I found one at Crystal Falls Trading Company
http://www.crystalfallstradingcompany.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=143

The measurements list the blade at 4.5inches? With an OAL of more then 8?? That doesnt seem right. Especially judging from the proportions of the pics Ive seen...

Does anyone have one of these? How does the thing take an edge? I want it to be able to get laser beam sharp and keep it for a bit. How thick? How does Marbles HT on 440HC look? Ive seen 440HC flat perform, and Flat suck. What are your opinions on it as an Outdoor game/utility blade?

Thanks guys....Ive never owned a Marbles before.

this was mine pimped out a little (also had a very small firesteel within the cordage)

Knives of Alaska(?) like that....make a pretty nifty B&T.

Check site of mfr. Lotta stuff that used to be made in U.S. is now China mfr. NOT the same. A few years ago, I sent in a Kabar Little Finn for repair. They replaced it with a China mfr. I called and got lucky, they hadn't tossed my original knife. I swapped back.

The difference might not show up in a catalog pic, but it was the difference between quality and facsimile, in my opinion.

Driftwood, a UK blade smith that frequents the makers forum, made this one for me last year. The wood is pale buckeye burl, the steel is 01.

Off hand I'd say the incorrectly listed the handle length as the blade length.

I have the Cold Steel version, and have been very happy with it.

I have cleaned many trout, lake & stream caught, with this knife. The pinkie ring works really well.

Jake! The B&D is part of my Martin BT package (just about the same size as the Bravo-1):

It just so happened that it was a perfect fit and the button snap secures through the B&D eye on the handle.

Really a great addition, it handles the smaller chores, especially cleaning small game/fish.

Cool!! Hows the edge retention?

Thanks Dave....Great pics.

Hey out of curiosity, Does the Bravo fit in that sheath too?

No issues with edge retention. I did thin it out a lot, and it's razor sharp.

Yeah, the Bravo does fit the sheath. I want to find out who made the sheath for Martin Knives as I would like this set up for my Bravo-1.

Hmmm. never really thought about one of that style, though the price is nice.

I am thinking about checking out the TOPS BTK. I like the size and shape and it has a nice sheath. It costs more though.

The Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter (#36LPM) works great as a b&t knife. I've used one for some time and like the rubber handle for when my hands are covered with fish slime. It's inexpensive and comes with a good sheath.
