I found this knife for good price new old stock. Its made in USA out of 1095 and love this blade shape.I am planning to make new handle. How is the performance of Marbles Usa old blades, edge holding, etc?

1095 should take and hold a wicked sharp edge. Did you end up with a leather-handled variant or the jigged bone? Looking at clean examples of each I'm not sure I'd want to rehandle unless the bone or leather were just too far gone.

Good luck with the refurb!

I'd just keep the rubber handle and only replace it if it becomes a problem. That's an awesome looking knife and I'd love to have one .

That is a nice knife but I can also kind of see why you'd want to replace it. :o  If you do, be sure to post up some before and after photos here on the porch so you have a good storyline for its evolution. :D

I love traditional knives, theres no other reason.Handle is similar to that of Cold Steel Srk! Might leave it on for while and try it out, I will try to find one of NOS or little used Marble USA bowie knife. They used to make many variants. Its shame Marbles doesn't make Quality products they used to in USA.Bark river is making a variant of bowie, that looks 99% as Marbles Trailmaker, might look into it.Bark rivers heat treat on 1084 bowie that I have is Superb, keeps edge for long time and is just super easy to sharpen or maintain edge on stone or strop.

Actually, a couple of years ago in ether Blde or knives illustrated I read an article comparing the cutting ability between a US made and a chinese made marbles bush crafted. They cut pretty much the same.
You can but a chinese one to rehandle for cheap.
Best regards
