After seeing the Marble's No. 9 Hunter's Axe, a double-bit hatchet, and reading a couple of reviews, I really started to like it. Double-bit hatchets seem fairly uncommon these days, and the Marbles looked clean and mean, so much so I was surprised to find it was only $30 or so. I was just wondering, since this axe is China-made, if there are any other similar double-bit hatchets out there for under $100 (preferably $50) with similar or better performance and F&F, made in the US if possible. All I have seen has been custom jobs and I'm sure GB or Wetterlings has a model that is close, though I dismiss them as a bit out of my price range at present.

oops! sorry i meant to give you the link for the double bit :p I've never used or owned a condor axe but i have heard a lot of good stuff about condor, and it will cost you a lot less

Has anyone had any experience with the No. 9 or the Pathfinder Nessmuk? How do they compare to each other and how does either compare to a slightly larger 28"-handled DB (which I already have a one of, though it needs work)? I'm looking for something to pack with me hiking and camping, so I was wondering if the weight-to-performance ratio stacks up.

I have both the pathfinder nessmuk and a no. 9 that was made in china for the price it is ok but it dulls quickly. the pathfinder nessmuk made by two hawks is a great little axe and does smaller work very well but lacks in terms of doing any felling or true chopping work. It is awesome for small work but is a bit cheeky . I think if one side was narrowed down for fine work it would be an ideal tool and it is light enough to pack easily.

wildmike,

Have you ever dealt with that website or ordered from them? The axe seems perfect, but the site looks pretty flimsy.
