I'm curious about this thing and I kind of want one, especially for the $20 price, but there is precious little info about it and it seems only to be available at one site. It says it is high carbon steel; 14-3/4"... I'm guessing made in China. Not sure if they are a sponsoring dealer or whatnot so no I wont post any linkage, but maybe you guys can let me know if there is a list or something...

What do you think?

This should be oil hardened carbon steel ( 1075 I believe ) and will be made in El Salvador by imicasa / Condor.

For $20 (a dozen take-out small cups of ordinary java) you don't need research or inspiration to try out one of these. Heck it might even turn out equivalent to $40 of somebody-else's-made-in-Asia-product when you field test it.
Go for it!
The old jingle of 'you get what you pay for' has (sort of) been up-ended by global trade differential in labour costs but shipping and handling and distributor markup does imply that this item was manufactured for a mere couple of bucks. Re-using soup cans and car bodies is but one way of reducing costs.

Thanks guys for the info! Condor / Imacasa 1075 for $20 sounds like this is definitely happening!
