Marbles Trailmaker - Is it worth it?

I have been considering the purchase of a Marbles Trailmaker; the leather-handled model. I have heard that the 10-inch flat-ground blade makes the knife well suited for brush cutting and light chopping chores, and is capable of holding a good edge.

Has anyone had experience with this knife? How well does the blade hold up to chopping? Is the tang strong enough, and is the handle firmly secured?

I would appreciate any input concerning this knife. I need to know more about it before I spend $150+ to buy one.

Thanks in advance,

IIRC, Marbles outsource all their blade manufacturing now, so who knows what you’d end up with.

Old Marbles (made out of 52100B) are great knives for the money.

For the same money you could have a Swamp Rat Battle Rat, and have no reason to worry about quality and construction.
