Marbles Trailmaker Steel?

After doing a search on Trailmakers, I am still not clear what steel they are currently being made in. Any one know for sure? I just ordered one with a bone handle and I can't find out if it is 5160, 51200 or that new stuff.

I hate to throw a wrench in the works but if my memory serves me right even the 10" Trailmakers are now being produced using Alchemite MC.

I guess, if what I'm saying is true then, it would probably then depend on whether or not you bought one of the new or old knives since there are still a few dealers who still have 5160 Trailmakers for in stock sale.

Regardless, you can use the handle spacer configuration to tell which year the knife was made and that will then give you a more definitive answer to your question.

If you want I will post a picture of the handle spacer configurations with recent corresponding years.

Arrrggghhh. I was afraid of this. I can't find a definative answer. I have heard so many conflicting things.

I emailed Marbles and they got back to me very quickly. The Trailmaker is 5160. All other models are the new steel.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear this.

But I'm happy that the Trailmaker is still being made using 5160.

That works out for you.

Sorry for the trouble Bob....

No sweat Raptor. I am glad I can set the record straight. I should have just emailed them at first but I did not think they would respond quickly if at all. I was wrong, they got back to me within two hours. Great guy, he did not give his name though.
