hi guys,
today i saw a marbles trailmaker with a 10" bowie type blade in a pawn shop. handle is leather with a stag pommel. blade is stamped "1992."

i've seen some trailsides, but not with stag, let alone full stag. i didn't want to examine it too closely lest they try to take me to the cleaners.

any idea what steel marbles was using for these in 1992?

they didn't seem to want a ton of $. it appears mint. box, papers etc. never sharpened. any idea what it is worth?

thanks,
mike

Becareful, this sounds like one of the Trailmakers made for Jim Parker in Germany(contract-Olbertz). Jim Parker and Marbles got into a nasty back and forth over these, I believe.

The steel is carbon, probably 1095 or 0-1. They and the Scagel reproductions were sold for $100 back then with the leather/stag handles. They're probably worth $150-200 now. Very decent knives, but not real Marble's.
