Some questions for you Marble's type guys;

1. Does everyone know about the changes to what used to be the Marble's unconditional warranty?

2. Will the fact that the warranty has been altered to exclude anything but factory defects for the life of the original owner impact your decision to purchase future Marble's products?

I'm just cruious how important other folks consider(ed) that warranty. I know it meant a whole lot to me. :( :mad:

The old policy certainly made me a believer in Marble's commitment to quality and their customers. I returned my Grandfather's original Woodcraft (made in 1915) to them with 1/4" broke off the tip and a blade that basically looked like crap. When I got it back it looked as good as new and scalpel sharp. All for no charge! As a result, I have purchased many of their knives and we both are better off for it.

I am certain however that in the long run it was a losing proposition for them. They probably took in countless old knives that were picked up a flea markets and such for a song, refurbished them, only to have their owners throw them up on eBay for a considerable profit. This service was not being provided as a means for others to benefit monetarily.

I think that the best solution would be to maintain the service, but charge accordinly for refurbishing a knife due to wear and tear. Customers should be happy that they can still get it performed and Marble's should be able to cover their costs.

I think highly of their products and I am sad to see the direction they are heading. Their knives are solid performers at and above their price point and are hand finished to boot. High quality factory available stick tang knives are becoming hard to find. My nephew will be turning 16 in May and I have already decided that I would buy him a Marble's to replace his current hunting knife. They are just wonderful knives and I hope that they stay around for years to come.

Good post Blademan. You said exactly what I was thinking!

I'v only bought one Marbles knife, a fieldcraft, but it quickly became my favorite hunting knife. Now my only problem is which one to buy next! No matter what the warranty, they make a great knife and I'll continue to buy and use them.

I too am sorry to see some of the changes at Marbles, such as the reduction in the number of models and the lack of custom work. Their new line of stainless blades (mystery steel) with molded handles is less than inspiring. However, it they keep on offering some of their traditional models in 52100, I'll keep on collecting and using them. I prize my Fieldcraft.

Is there still a warranty on Marble's items? The website doesn't have any contact or warranty info, and no documentation came in the box for my safety pliers. I have two pairs of the safety pliers with different issues. One I modified, so that's my bad, but the new one has a different issue. The quality control is pretty bad on these (two different problems on two different knives), but I love the feel of the tool in my hand, and I'd really love to get one with zero issues.

Charles.
