so i was told about this new incredible scope for bench rest shooting i looked them up and was blown away! this is the March 8x80 yeah that's right 80 power!!!March-X 8x-80x.jpg

sorry about the small pic its the only one i could get but they are worth taking a look at! i might have to get into 1000 yard shooting just to have an excuse to get one of these bad boys!

I looked into getting one of those. Then got a great deal on a luepold. I still would love to have one someday.

Beef I have the March "tactical" FX first focal plane version 5-40 illuminated. March scopes have long been one of the top choices of elite bench rest shooters; the 8-80 is now popular with the 1000 yard crowd. Their tactical line is newer, but IMO is the best scope out there. The Schmidt and Bender crowd will stone me for saying that however. I posted a pic of my rifle with March scope in the Grendel thread a few days ago.

If you are talking March, you are in the rarified air of quality optics occupied by the likes of US Optics, Zeiss Hensholdt, Schmidt Bender. At 80x on the top end, wonder if it would double for seeing the craters on the moon.

Its cool to have, but honestly, 80x is REALLY hard to use. Conditions have to be perfect, otherwise you are getting beaten by the mirage once you pass around 25x. I had a 32x and very rarely got to dial it all the way up, it usually stayed in the low 20's.

March is great glass, but your money would probably be better spent on something in a more practical magnification range.

I couldn't imagine needing anything over 25x. I would like to try an 80x out to see how far you can actually see.
