Considering that airfares are not going to drop I'm looking for suggestions for vacations in March that would be kid friendly and still within driving range of Atlanta. Any ideas?

The kids might like Fort Discovery in Augusta.

Not sure what to suggest after that though. Heading south is never a bad idea in March :-)

Take the kiddies to Charelston and see the USS Midway. a WWII era aircraft carrier. My kids loved it. Also Ft. Sumpter...

There is also Hilton Head island...

Depending upon their age they might enjoy Six Flags (just a few miles east of ATL.) for a day. (It is on I 20 just outside of I 285 on the east side.).

I am not dead sure if they are open in March, but I think they are.

(Google: Six Flags over Georgia)

If they have not already been there, the Aquarium (Tennessee Aguarium) is only 1:45 min. north on I 75 to East I 24 to Downtown Chattanooga. Very Cool.

Fernbank Museum in the North Druid Hills area of Atlanta (near Emory University) might be a good way to spend the afternoon depending upon what they have going on at the time as would the Fernbank Science Center and Observatory which is close to the Museum.

(OK so I was a nerdy kid :D).

How far is driving range?? March is cool to see the Iditarod, but I doubt you want to hear "Are we there yet" 6,534 times ;) :D
